Two-Way Slab (0:23)

Two way slab construction typically occurs when you have flat slab construction which is when the slab is uniform thickness over most of the floor area, at the columns there may be a drop panel, this is where the slab is thickened. Also, the bays or column spacing, are similar or close to the same spacing in both directions. Loads are supported in both directions. Also, load patterns are such that typically reinforcement is sized for column and middle strips in both directions.

Design will include:

  • Slab thickness
  • Steel sizing for flexure and shear
  • Mat designations
