This sheet is the spur dike detail sheet. A spur dike prevents the washing and scouring of the end bents. On this drawing you can see the plan view and a typical cross section. In these areas a geotextile sheet and riprap are used. The plan view shows where these materials are placed. Most of the spur dike is covered by both but there are some areas covered only by revetment riprap.
Revetment riprap are white stones, on this project specified size of 18 inches. For more specific information on both riprap and the geotextile material used, please consult the bidding documents and the standard specs.
